The parallels Lexi draws between pageant life and high school were spot on! I was also really impressed with the way the different relationships were portrayed… Lexi and Mackenzie, Lexi and her parents, Lexi and her best friends… and of course, Lexi and some delightful love interests. I also really liked the addition of the whole beauty pageant scene. It’s not that she wants to be in the pageants (no way!) But still, a little recognition and a life of her own would be nice! With the help of her best friends Lexi stops sitting life out and begins to have some fun. Lexi has always sat on the sidelines but she is done with that. After her parents split her mother became obsessed with entering Lexi’s younger sister Mackenzie in beauty pageants. For a long time she’s basically okay with that. Lexi is the girl with a great personality. My Thoughts: If the fact that the author of this book was Elizabeth Eulberg hadn’t already made it an auto-read the title totally would have! Love it! And the book so lives up to the awesome title. Because Lexi’s going to play the beauty game–and she’s in it to win it. Girls without great personalities aren’t going to know what hit them. The time has come for Lexi to step out from the sidelines.
